This AIKANE 56 is a truly exceptional multihull, the designer is none other than the VPLP firm, the designer and first owner was also the designer of the much appreciated SWITCH 51, AIKANE aims to be the culmination of this experience with a very more sophisticated produced by the Gil Carmagnani GC Marine Consulting shipyard in Trinidad (80kg/m3 foam sandwich and numerous carbon reinforcements); carbon mast chimney, textile rigging, compression beam and glass-carbon composite front beam… The layout and decoration are designed from the design firm Couedel and Hugon and were carried out in Brittany under the direction of Didier Ragot ( second to Olivier de Kersauson) who was also in charge of construction monitoring.
The silhouette of the boat is superb, its performance at sea is remarkable (both in speed and comfort), the interior layout is splendid and the equipment is abundant. All the electronics are very recent, all the electricity has been redone and brought up to 2022 standards and the boat is in magnificent condition, totally ready for its new program. The entire electrical circuit was redone with replacement of all the wiring and installation of two Balmar 90A alternators, a Victron 5000 inverter + Victron 3000 inverter/charger (back-up in the event of a breakdown of the 5000). All electronics have been replaced: Furuno DRS4D NXT Radar, AIS Vesper Marine, Computer Rom Arranged with MaxSea TZ NAVIGATOR and Radar Modules + Weather Routing. A second autopilot installed on carbon support (Raymarine arm, NKE electronics), Xpro Defender 2022 annex + Suzuki 9.9hp 2023 engine, refit and technical inspection of the mast change genoa furling 2022 (Profurl), textile rigging replaced in 2018 (The boat then remained dismasted for 3 years), lopolight masthead, lazy bag replaced in 2022, all the cleats reinforced with carbon fabric from below, the large ‘cooler’ type cold volume replaced by a Vitrifrigo refrigerator, all the fabrics of the salon and cockpit are new (sunbrella), teak cockpit slats redone in 2023, large carbon cockpit table with a single “wing mast” shaped leg + small wooden cockpit table with ice maker. 2 Moorings: Rocna 33kg + 80m diam 13+ textile chain, new Delta 45Kg + 100m new Limousines Grade 70 HR chain + 8 strand textile.
